Pathanapuram block panchayat area is part of the Mavelikkara Lok Sabha constituency, located on the banks of the Kalladayar River in Sahyadri hills in Kollam district. The block includes the village panchayats of Thalavoor, Pattazhi, Pattazhi Vadakkeccara, Piravanthoor, Vilakkudy, and Pathanapuram within Pathanapuram taluk.
